What is CBI Officer ?

CBI is the central body which is called ” Central Bureau of Investigation ” and it was established on 1st April 1963. CBI is reputed and premier investigating agency of India. The CBI has been created to investigate several special offences, economic offenses and corruption cases and other high level offences.

What is required for CBI investigation?

CBI is the main investigative agency of India; which investigates matters related to the security of India. It is mostly used on the instructions of Supreme Court, High Court and Central Government. The jurisdiction of CBI is all the states of India and it can also cooperate with the security agencies of other countries as per the instruction.

Supreme Court and High Court can order CBI to investigate any criminal case in the country without the direction of the state government. At the same time, the Central Government cannot order an inquiry without the consent of the State Government.

When a state has to get a CBI probe into a case, then it sends its proposal to the center; if the central government gives its consent to it, then the investigation starts. But in Union Territories, the Central Government can order the CBI to investigate on its own.

How to become a CBI Officer After 12th ?

UPSC and SSC CGL are the two organizations that conduct the exam to get into the CBI.

UPSC

Its stands for “Union Public Service Commission”. To become a Group-A officer in CBI, you need to become IPS by clearing civil services exam conducted by UPSC.

SSC CGL

SSC means ‘Staff Selection Commission’. If you want to get the job of Sub Inspector in CBI then you have to give SSC CGL exam and after promotion you can go to the above post in it.

Now let’s talk about how to get into CBI through SSC Exam.

Qualification for CBI Officer

To become a CBI officer after 12th, first you have to pass graduation. The college from which you pass your graduation should be recognized by the Government of India. You can pass your graduation from any subject.

Age Limit

To eligible for CBI officer, the candidate should be at least 20 years of age and can be maximum up to 30 years. Additional relaxation also provides as follows :

SSC CGL Exam Pattern

There are 4 tiers i.e. parts of SSC exam. Tier 1 and Tier 2 is computer based paper. Tier 3 is descriptive paper. Tier 4 consists of CPT and DEST test.

What is the SSC CGL Syllabus?

Tier 1 :  Questions are asked from 4 subjects which are as follows :

•  General Intelligence and Reasoning

•  General Awareness

•  Quantitative Aptitude

•  English Comprehension

Out of all these four subjects, 25-25 questions are asked which is a total of 100 questions. They are of 200 marks. Time duration is 1 hour . There is also negative marking in this, for giving a wrong answer 0.5 marks will be deducted.

Tier 2:  Questions are asked from two subjects which are as follows :

•  Quantitative Abilities

•  English Language are Comprehension

200 questions are asked in each of these two subjects. So total questions is 400, which is of 400 marks. Time duration is 4 hours. A separate time of 2-2 hours is given for both the subjects. There is also a provision of negative marking in this, for every wrong answer your 0.25 marks are deducted.

Tier 3 :  It is a descriptive paper i.e. writing paper. In this you have to write Essay or Precisor Letter or Application. You can write in both Hindi and English languages. To pass in this paper has to get at least 33% marks.

Tier 4: In this your CPT ( Computer Proficiency Test ) and DEST ( Data Entry Speed ​​Test ) are taken. Here you should have good command in Hindi and English typing. This is only a qualifying paper, it does not affect your merit.

After this your physical test and personal interview are also taken. For apply in Sub-inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation need to give these physical Tests.

CBI officer salary

CBI sub Inspector post comes under Group-B, then its salary is also quite decent. In this, your salary start from 24,900 to 1,42,400 according to pay level 7. Along with this other facilities are also given.

How to prepare for CBI Sub-inspector ?

First of all you have to make a time table according to which you can study every day. After that you understand the syllabus of SSC CGL and read accordingly. With this, you can also take a good coaching and you will get courses online. Choose the most reliable books only.
