What is a Village Development Officer ( VDO )?

VDO ( Village Development Officer ) is a government post under the Ministry of Rural Development. The government constantly tries to make the life of the people living in the village comfortable and better. Due to this, schools, and hospitals are built in the village and new techniques related to farming are provided. All these works are done by the government through VDO to raise the living standard of rural people.

Village Development Officer is appointed by Panchayati Raj Department for administrative work at the village level.

How to become a VDO officer?

To become a Village Development Officer, you must have passed 12th and in some states, 12th along with a diploma in computer is also sought for this post.
To apply for VDO You can pass the 12th class with any stream i.e. Arts, Commerce & Science.

VDO Age Limit: If you want to apply for this post, then your age should be 40 years. Then only you will be able to fill out its form. Along with this, additional relaxation is given to the reserved category.

What is the work of a VDO officer?

VDO works together with the sarpanch to outline, review and monitor development works, Also provides benefits of the schemes run by the government for the rural people. It monitors the works of Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat. It is also responsible to provide basic facilities like sanitation, drinking water, and electricity in the village.

Along with this, the maintenance of birth, death, marriage, and other records, all this work comes under the village development officer.

VDO Exam

The VDO Exam form is issued by the Revenue Department. All the state governments take out the form according to their convenience. For eg, the Rajasthan government releases a form by RSMSSB for the recruitment of VDO.

VDO Exam Date

There is no fixed time for its Exam to come, but most of the exams come between June and July. By the way, different states have different vacancies in different months. Wherever government requires employees, then the vacancies are taken out by the Ministry of Rural Development.

VDO exam pattern

Its paper is divided into 3 parts. It is a written exam which is for 300 marks. 2 hours are given to solve this. 2 marks are given for each correct answer. And for a wrong answer, marks for a correct answer are deducted i.e. There is a Negative marking.

Hindi: 50 questions are asked from this which is of 100 marks.

General Intelligence: 50 questions are asked from this which is of 100 marks.

General Knowledge: 50 questions are asked which are of 100 marks.

What is the VDO syllabus?

The paper of VDO is divided into three parts. n the first part there is Hindi writing; in which students are asked about the Hindi language like questions about Alankar, Samas, Synonyms, Antonyms, etc. General knowledge is asked in the second part and reasoning is asked in the last part.

What is the salary of a VDO?

The salary of a VDO is around ₹ 22500 per month. Along with this, many types of allowance are Given. But with time later a VDO can be promoted to higher positions like ADO, or BDO.

How to prepare for VDO Exam?

If you want to become a village development officer, first of all, you will make a timetable and study Regularly. Give equal time to each subject in the timetable. But give more time to the subject in which you are weak. If you want, you can also prepare for it online like, YouTube, etc.
