What is Bank PO ?

The full form of Bank PO is Probationary Officer. It can be given any kind of work before the completion of the probation period. It has to work under Clerk and Assistant. So that they get information about different working areas of the bank.

How to Become a Bank PO ?

To become a Bank PO, first you have to apply online form of IBPS. The full form of IBPS is “Institute of Banking Personal Selection“. IBPS Work Profile is to take the exam of all the banks together. IBPS conducts mainly 4 exams in a year i.e Bank Clerk, Bank PO, RRB Officer, RRB Assistant Officer.

You have two ways to become a Bank PO, first through IBPS and second through SBI. There is a separate procedure to become a Bank PO in SBI. Here we talk about how to become a Bank PO by IBPS?

What is the job profile of Bank PO?

Bank PO are given training in finance, accounting, marketing as well as practical knowledge of investments during the probation period. Along with this, the work of scrolling, posting, account preparation etc. is also Done by Bank PO.

After completion of probation period Bank PO is appointed as Assistant Bank Manager in branch. Here it handles daily customer transactions, passbook printing, draft issue and cash issue etc.

Bank PO Qualifications

First you have to pass graduation. Whichever college you will complete your graduation from, the university should be recognized by the Government of India. You can pass graduation from any stream.

That is, if you are a graduate from any subject of Science, Commerce, Arts, then you are eligible to fill the form .


It is necessary to have knowledge of computer because all its work is computer related.

Bank PO Age Limit

Age limit is minimum 20 years and maximum 30 years. Along with this, there is some relaxation for the reserved category; 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST, 10 for PWD, and 5 years for ex-serviceman.

What is the percentage required ?

To fill the form of IBPS, graduation is necessary. There is no minimum percentage requirement.

When will the forms be out?

IBPS releases vacancies every year. Its online form comes out in the month of August and you can fill the form till October. It takes around 24 days to fill the form.

Bank PO exam pattern

Its consists of 3 papers. First prelims, mains and interview. To clear the prelims exam you have to score minimum marks . Both these exams are conducted by online mode. Prelims is a qualifying exam.

What is Bank PO Syllabus ?

Prelims syllabus: This paper Consists of 3 subjects in which total 100 questions are asked. Each question is of one mark i.e. there is a total paper of 100 marks. And time duration is 1 hour. These 3 Subjects are :

English in which you are asked 30 questions which are of 30 marks, for this you get 20 minutes.

Mathematics Consists of 35 questions . Time duration is 20 minutes

Reasoning from which 35 questions are asked, for which you are given 20 minutes.

what is the Mains Syllabus?

In this paper questions are asked from 4 subjects. Total questions are 155 which are of 200 marks. Time duration is 3 hours.

• Reasoning and Computer Aptitude from which 45 questions are asked; Which are of 60 marks and time is given for 60 minutes.

• 40 questions are asked from General Economy/Banking Awareness; carrying 40 marks and the time duration is 35 minutes.

• 35 questions are asked from English language ;which are of 40 marks and the time given is 40 minutes.

• 35 questions are asked from Data Analysis and Interpretation or Mathematics; carrying 60 marks and time is 45 minutes.

You can give both these exams in Hindi or in English. It is up to you in which language you want to give this paper.

Written Test

In this test, you have to write essay and letter, which you have to give by typing in the computer. For this you should know English typing. There will be 2 questions which are of total 25 marks. For which you will get 30 minutes. Keep in mind that this paper is just a qualifying paper i.e. it does not make your merit. Its marks will not be added to your merit, your merit is made only from four papers of mains.

Interview

After passing prelims and mains you are called for interview. The interview is of 100 marks. Here the general category candidates have to get 40% marks, while the PWD, OBC, SC / ST candidates have to get at least 35% marks. But every time the cut-off is different so you have to score maximum marks.

What is the salary of Bank PO?

Its salary varies from bank to bank. If we talk about basic pay, then it is 23,700 per Month. Along with this you get Dearness Allowance, Special Allowance, HRA, Medical Allowance, CCA. After that your total salary becomes 38,000 to 42,000; which is depends on the basis of bank and posting.

How to prepare for Bank PO?

First of all, to prepare for PO, one has to understand its syllabus thoroughly. After that you have to study each subject deeply. To clear any exam, you have to prepare a time table. First of all make a time table of all the subjects and follow it regularly.

Give more time to the subject in which you are weak in the time table. After this, solve previous year questions ( PYQ ), so that you can know how the pattern of the exam is. Follow these tips regularly only then you will be able to crack Bank PO exam.
